BS-8 HVAC Modeling and Simulation
| Business needs: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Support the exchange of HVAC information between software currently used by the AEC/FM community (e.g., CAD) and various building services simulation tools,such as EnergyPlus. Supporting the exchange of HVAC information will make the use of such tools more efficient and cost-effective, and will therefore remove the primary barriers to their more widespread use. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Solution: |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Extending the IFC model to support the modeling and simulation of HVAC components and systems will allow this information to be more easily archived and exchanged between participants across the life cycle of a building project. In order to assure that the HVAC systems within a building are properly designed and operated, HVAC data must be documented along with all other building information (e.g., geometry and construction material characteristics). This will provide access to these data not only during design, but also during the operation of the constructed building | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
